CamperUK Summer Open Weekend – 2023

Several club members attended the CamperUK Summer Weekend event in Lincolnshire. We missed John and Bron who had to pull out for personal reasons and although the turnout was small, it was perfectly formed. The event was held at CamperUK’s rally field adjacent to their campsite in Swinethorpe over two nights. CamperUK laid on a marquee with entertainment and a bar on both Friday and Saturday night with a BBQ on Saturday. The event was held on behalf of Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and various fund raising activities were held throughout the weekend and let us hope that lots money was raised for this worthy cause. A schedule of minibuses were laid on to shuttle campers between the rally and various drop-off points around Lincoln.

Ruth and I had spent a few nights at Woodhall Spa prior to the rally and were joined by Sandra and Steve who were making their way back home from their travels around France and we were joined at the rally by Tim and Katrina. Mark and Sue who we had not met prior to the rally were a welcome addition to our group and have since joined the club. We also met up with fellow LAIKA owners Frasier and Sarah who were staying on one of the campsite pitches and they joined us for the evening entertainment in the marquee.

The weekend was a fairly casual affair with everyone amusing themselves during the day. Ruth and I used the shuttle bus to visit the showroom on Friday and again on Saturday when we had a bit more time to explore the city of Lincoln with it’s historic buildings, whilst Tim and Katrina ventured further afield with a trip out in their van.

A good time was had by all, thanks to the wonderful organisation of CamperUK. Sunday was time to depart although for some who had propped the bar up until the early hours it was perhaps a later departure than otherwise anticipated.
