Museum of Power – 11 April 2024 – 16 April 2024 (5 nights)
The Museum of Power is located at Langford near Maldon, Essex. The Museum is housed in a former Water Pumping Station, set in seven acres of grounds with the River Blackwater running through. The main exhibits are housed in the 1920s Steam Pumping Station, the former generator hall and boiler house. The Museum contains a fascinating collection which ranges from a working overhead machine shop to a petrol powered iron. The jewel in our crown is the 'Lilleshall' triple expansion steam pump now back on steam after 50 years.
The Museum has been the subject of significant renovation in 2023 following funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other donors. Work is planned to be complete in the autumn of 2023 so should be completed well in time for our visit.
The site includes the Museum itself, a miniature railway, model village, gardens, tea room, and shop, although not all of these are open at all times.
The site is situated a short distance from Maldon, and there are good local bus connections including connection to rail at Hatfield Peverell with connections into Chelmsford, Colchester, and London Liverpool Street.
This is not a campsite and we will use the Museum events field. There are toilets, water, and chemical waste disposal. Please note that there are no showers or washing-up facilities provided. There are a limited number of electric hook-up available (4) and these will be charged at £6.00 per night. If you would like electric hook-up they will be provided on a first booked basis so please let us know when booking and if there is one available it will be allocated to you.
Deposit with booking please, payable to the club account via bank transfer. Please use your vehicle reg as your transfer reference.

Tuscany - Spring 2025
We have had to postpone our anticipated LAIKA factory tour scheduled for the spring of 2024. 2024 is the 60th Anniversary of LAIKA and it has not been possible to accomodate mutually convenient dates with LAIKA in what will be an extremely busy year of events.
We are however delighted to announce that the kind invitation of LAIKA for our members to attend a tour of their state-of-the-art factory in the beautiful Tuscan region of Italy has been rolled over to 2025. Details have still to be worked out and we will be working with LAIKA in the coming weeks to agree definitive dates for this trip.
This trip is likely to take place during April/March 2025 and the dates indicated are merely a placeholder so that we can publish advance details.
